Typhoon Halong Donation Drive
.png)
When Typhoon Halong struck Western Alaska, thousands of village residents had to evacuate their homes in the wake of widespread damage across coastal communities. These evacuees are now in great need of our support.
Through October 25, CU1 branches in Anchorage, Eagle River, Wasilla and Fairbanks are collecting essential supplies for disaster relief efforts. Members and community partners are encouraged to donate the following:
- New winter gear
- Baby diapers and wipes
- Cleaning supplies
- Toiletries
- Tissues
- Paper Towels
- New bedding/sleeping bags
- Bottled water
“These storms have a lasting impact on rural communities,” said Mark Burgess, President/CEO. “Alaskans have always looked out for one another, and by contributing even a small item, you’re helping families rebuild and recover.”
In collaboration with the Red Cross of Alaska, Lynden and GCI, donations will be delivered to organizations that are coordinating on-the-ground relief for evacuees.
Collection Deadline: October 25
Where to Donate: CU1 branches in Anchorage, Eagle River, Wasilla and Fairbanks
Monetary donations, which help local agencies provide long-term assistance to families rebuilding their lives, are also welcomed.
- To donate funds to the Red Cross of Alaska, text REDCROSS to 90999 or call 1- 800-RED-CROSS.
- You can also donate online to the Western Alaska Disaster Relief 2025 Fund through the Alaska Community Foundation via their website.
Together, we can make a difference for our fellow Alaskans recovering from Typhoon Halong.
