CU1 is Officially Open in Homer!
When Credit Union 1 opens a branch, it’s never just about adding a location. It’s about choosing to show up – intentionally and for the long haul – in a community we believe in. On August 11, 2026, we officially opened the doors to our new Homer branch at 475 E. Pioneer Ave., deepening our commitment to the southern Kenai Peninsula.
We celebrated the opening alongside an incredible turnout of community members, local leaders, businesses and media who joined us to welcome Credit Union 1 to Homer. The enthusiasm surrounding the grand opening reinforced exactly why we’re excited to be here: Homer is a community that values connection, local relationships and showing up for one another.
Our new full-service branch is staffed by local employees and offers the full range of CU1 services, from everyday consumer banking and mortgages to business solutions, supported by modern digital tools.
Homer is shaped by small businesses, fishing families, seasonal work and year-round residents who value independence and connection in equal measure. It serves as a hub for surrounding communities across the southern Kenai Peninsula, and our goal is simple: to be a consistent, reliable financial partner rooted in the community.
Our decision to open in Homer was inspired in part by the 2045 Homer Comprehensive Plan Update and the community’s shared commitment to thoughtful growth, strong neighborhoods and a thriving local economy. We’re excited to support that vision by providing local service, trusted guidance and financial tools that help families and businesses build what’s next.
There’s also special meaning in where our new branch is located. The site at 475 E. Pioneer Ave. was previously home to the Fireweed Gallery, a beloved local business that contributed to Homer’s creative and cultural life for many years. We’re grateful for the legacy created in this space and honored to begin our own chapter here while carrying forward the spirit of a locally rooted business.
Credit Union 1 has served the Kenai Peninsula since 1979, and our Homer branch deepens that long-standing commitment. It also reflects a deliberate approach to growth that has guided our work across Alaska – from recent branch openings in Kotzebue, Skagway and Wasilla to the expansion of our business lending program and our recent merger with Fairbanks-based MAC Federal Credit Union.
At the heart of it all is our role as a financial partner for real life. Whether that’s starting a business, buying a home, building financial confidence or planning for what comes next, we’re here to help Alaskans navigate meaningful moments with guidance grounded in the realities of life here.
The warm welcome we received at our grand opening was an exciting beginning, but August 11 was just that – a beginning. We look forward to earning trust over time, building lasting relationships and finding meaningful ways to invest in the people and organizations that make Homer such a special place to call home.
Our doors are officially open, Homer. We’re glad to be here.
