Bill Countryman Scholarship Program

Bill Countryman Scholarship

Each year, Credit Union 1 is proud to offer the Bill Countryman Scholarship program to qualified Alaska applicants. As a longtime board member at Frontier Alaska State Credit Union (one of the credit unions that merged to make CU1 what it is today), Mr. Countryman believed that education and adventure are what keep you young!

To commemorate our roots as an educational credit union, the Board of Directors of Credit Union 1 is pleased to announce that for the 30th consecutive year, Credit Union 1 will be offering student scholarship awards to qualified applicants.

Eligible applicants fall into one of these three categories:
  1. Individuals or students continuing their education at an accredited college or vocational school.
  2. Senior high students applying for admission to an accredited college or vocational school.
  3. Junior high or high school students through 11th grade applying for the Johns Hopkins CTY Program

In the case of categories one and two, the purpose of the scholarship will be to fund the student's college education, while scholarships awarded to category three would be to help defray costs for a junior high student or high school student through the 11th grade to attend a summer session at Johns Hopkins University.
