Anchorage:

Currently we have an opening for multiple Anchorage Area Tellers, 1 full-time Teacher Assistant, 1 full-time Account Recovery Manager, 1 full-time Senior Real Estate Lending Manager and 1 full-time Internal Communications Specialist.

Teller: Tellers are the foundation of CU1. In fact, many of our current top-level employees started out as tellers! At Credit Union 1, we pride ourselves in promoting from within – and our teller positions are the perfect place to begin. The qualifications for a Teller are at least 6 months of sales and customer service experience, with cash handling experience preferred. This can include restaurant and/or retail experience. The ability to work branch hours is required.

Currently we have an opening for multiple full-time Tellers in the Anchorage Area. Hours for the position are Monday-Sunday, 5 days a week; weekend work is required.  Employees can expect to work an 8 hour shift that could begin as early as 7:30am and end as late at 7:30pm.  The ability to work branch hours is required.

Teacher Assistant: At Credit Union 1, we love kids! If you feel the same way, our Little 1’s Learning Center may be the perfect place for you. Currently, we are hiring for one full-time Teacher Assistant in our Learning Center. The person in this position will be responsible for assisting our teaching staff with their daily routine, program implementation, and supervision and safety of children. This position reports directly to the Learning Center’s on-site manager.  

The qualifications for Teacher Assistant are high school graduate or equivalent.  Child care experience is preferred, and CPR/First Aid certification is required. Credit Union 1 is happy to purchase NAEYC basic membership for the person in this position, following six months of employment, if they do already have a membership.  If the employee already has a membership, their renewal will be paid by the credit union upon six months of employment.    

Currently we have an opening for 1 full-time Teacher Assistant at our Little One’s Early Learning Center; located at 1941 Abbott Rd. Hours for this position are Monday-Friday.  Employees can expect to work a rotating shift that could begin as early as 7:00am and end as late at 8:00pm.

Account Recovery Manager: Assisting members with their financial health is a top priority at Credit Union 1. For members who are experiencing hard times in particular, our Member Assistance Department is here to help! CU1’s Account Recovery Manager is responsible for skip tracing and collecting on accounts previously charged-off as a loss by the credit union. This includes consumer loans, credit card accounts and overdrafts. Our Account Recovery Manager also follows up on claims filed in Probate courts, obtain and execute judgments and manage Account Recovery Staff. The person in this position reports to the credit union’s Senior Vice President of Lending. 

Qualifications for Account Recovery Manager include a degree in business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of related college-level courses and work experience. Applicants must also have a minimum of three years’ collections experience in progressively more difficult areas. Supervisory experience is also required, preferably in a financial institution. In addition, applicants must have thorough knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Bankruptcy Law and Probate, and knowledge of District Court rules and procedures.

Senior Real Estate Lending Manager: Are you excited to help fellow Alaskans realize some of their biggest dreams? Join CU1’s Real Estate team to start changing lives via homeownership! Credit Union 1’s Senior Real Estate Lending Manager is responsible for coordinating and controlling our credit union wide Real Estate Lending activities. This person reports to the credit union’s Senior Vice President of Lending.

Qualifications for Senior Real Estate Lending Manager include high school graduate or equivalent, plus five years of experience in lending and at least five years in a supervisory capacity. A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Business Administration is desirable! Applicants must have knowledge of secondary market regulations and guidelines, including FHA and VA loans, as well as a demonstrated understanding and ability to perform all aspects of Real Estate Lending.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills are also required. Furthermore, applicants must have the ability to review and analyze business and personal tax returns, be able to work well under pressure, and be capable of working in a tactful, diplomatic and effective manner with members, all levels of credit union personnel, professionals serving the credit union and external auditors and regulators.

Internal Communications Specialist: Calling all writers! If you have a passion for creative writing with a technical twist, Credit Union 1 may be the perfect place for you. We’re looking for an Internal Communications Specialist with a keen eye for clarity and detail as well as the ability to create fun, engaging content for internal employee purposes. Credit Union 1’s Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for articulating the purpose and philosophy of the credit union to employees through exceptional writing. They will develop compelling content for a variety of internal communication channels.

CU1’s Internal Communications Specialist will be responsible for creatively producing and delivering internal communications to launch promotional campaigns, employee incentives, marketing programs, employee anniversary announcements and more. They will also manage the credit union’s intranet home page content and encourage the use of SharePoint’s social tools. In addition, the person in this position will manage content for Credit Union 1’s internal information search library. This includes ensuring that information is consistently updated and refreshed while answering daily employee inquiries in a timely manner. The Internal Communications Specialist will also distribute monthly marketing packets to branches, update and maintain marketing checklists and brochure inventory, and ensure that branches are notified of changes and branch signage is kept up-to-date.

 

Qualifications for our Internal Communications Specialist include a high school graduate or equivalent. A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English or a related field is preferred, along with two years of professional writing experience and a record of excellence. Prior experience in a financial institution is also preferred! Exceptional written and verbal skills are required, and applicants must possess a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite. The person in this position will abide and comply with the Bank Secrecy Act, anti-money laundering laws and regulations, the Office of Foreign Assets Control, and marketing and advertising laws and regulations.

Currently we have an opening for 1 full-time Assistant Branch Manager and 1 full-time Teller.

Assistant Branch Manager: One of Credit Union 1’s most active and beloved branches is looking of for a new Assistant Branch Manager. Are you the perfect person to fill these shoes? Let’s see! CU1’s Soldotna Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the branch and assuming responsibility over the branch in the absence of the Branch Manager.

CU1’s Soldotna Assistant Branch Manager will be responsible for assisting branch employees with the performance of their duties, supervising branch employees, modeling needs-based selling of credit union products and services, encouraging and assisting branch employees with improving sales techniques and meeting sales goals, assisting the Branch Manager in the implementation and ongoing training of retail sales for all branch employees, leading teller referral training, observations and coaching, ensuring compliance of branch policies and procedures while recommending updates as needed, organizing daily work as needed, assisting the Branch Manager with the processing and closing of loans, opening and closing the branch as scheduled and taking responsibility for branch appearance and assisting the Branch Manager in the training of new tellers.

Qualifications for Soldotna Assistant Branch Manager include a minimum of one years’ experience working in a financial institution, supervisory and consumer loan experience is preferred. Relative college-level course work is desirable, as is experience in evaluating consumer loan requests. Applicants must have the ability to effectively supervise, motivate and lead a branch team in order to consistently attain service and sales goals and comply with various organizational and regulatory requirements. Applicants must also be able to manage member and employee matters in a professional, tactful and confidential manner, as evidenced by sound judgment and excellent communication skills. CU1 Assistant Branch Managers must each project a positive sales attitude to proactively evaluate and present credit union products and services that best meet our members’ financial needs.
