Credit Union 1 was founded on the spirit of “people helping people”, and we continue to embrace this philosophy through our commitment to volunteering.
We can be seen everywhere, from road cleanups, to providing support with fundraising events, to painting houses, to serving holiday meals for those in need, to participating in events like American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. We’re a talented group, and we love to help in all kinds of ways, serving as a helpful source of support for the community we all share.
CommUNITY Day started on Columbus Day of 2015 with employees using their day off work to donate more than 900 volunteer hours to local nonprofits across the state. This year, Credit Union 1 is looking for three major projects to support. If your project is selected, we will send up to 50 volunteers to contribute their time on either Labor Day (September 5, 2016) or Columbus Day (October 10, 2016)*. The application period is now closed.
This past December, CU1 participated in Giving Tuesday, which is a national day of giving back to communities. All CU1 employees throughout the state joined in one of CU1’s biggest philanthropic events ever. Employees sporting #CU1LUV shirts entered their communities and found families in need of grocery money, gas, a cup of coffee or just a warm hug. CU1 truly lived by the “people helping people” philosophy on Giving Tuesday and showed the community what #CU1LUV is all about.
