How long is my grace period on my auto loan?
On most auto loans* the grace period is 6 days. The 7th day would be considered late. *Next Gen and Credit Solutions have no grace period.
Why is there a difference between my balance and the available balance?
Whenever you use your debit card as “credit” (when you don’t use your Pin), there is a “hold” placed on the dollar amount of your transaction. This hold allows you to take into account what your balance will be when the item clears your account two to three business days later.
My account showed I had adequate balance when I made a purchase, so why did I get an overdraft fee?
When checking your balance, it is important to understand the difference between the "running balance" and the "available balance." The "running balance" displays the funds in your account at the moment, but does not show any pending transactions. The "available balance" however, displays your pending transactions so you can see a more accurate view of your actual balance available.
For example: It's Sunday and you want to go grocery shopping. You look at your balance and it's $100, so you purchase $75 of groceries. The next day, Monday, you want to go out to dinner. You check your balance again and it says $100. Great! You go to dinner and spend $40. However, on Wednesday, both the $75 transaction and the $40 transaction clear your account (two to three business days after your purchase) and now your $100 balance is overdrawn by $15, so an overdraft fee is assessed.
A word of caution, however; not all holds are created equal! Many gas stations for example will place as little as a $1 hold or as great as a $100 hold on your account until the actual funds clear. That's why your available balance should be your 'gauge' of what's in your account, but the best practice is to always track your balance in your own register to know for yourself exactly where your balance stands.
While it may be challenging to understand your available balance when making purchasing decisions, our Member Service Center can help you if you have any questions about your balance.

When I make payments to my credit card, why doesn’t the cash advance interest ever go down?
The Federal Government has required that whenever a payment is made to a credit card, the payments are first applied to purchases then to cash advances. This means that you must pay off every purchase on your card first before you start paying off your cash advances. Don’t worry though, the interest rate on cash advances is the same rate as purchases.
What is a SecureCode™ and how do I register my MasterCard® for one?
MasterCard SecureCode is a service from MasterCard and your card issuer that provides greater peace of mind when you shop online by providing added protection against unauthorized use of your enrolled card.
Register your MasterCard by clicking here.
Once you've registered and created a SecureCode, each time you make an online purchase, a window will pop up asking for your SecureCode, just like using a PIN at the ATM. When you correctly enter your SecureCode, your card issuer confirms that you are the authorized cardholder and your purchase is completed.
